Certifying your project requires you to collect enough points in each of the five categories to meet the minimum requirements for that certification level. Additional points required to achieve certification can be selected from any of the five categories.
The point minimums and totals vary depending on the type and size of the project. Click on the Remodeling and New Homes links to the left for a better understanding of how the certification system works.
When a project has been completed, the builder or remodeler submits their project binder to Minnesota GreenStar for final review. A successful project or home will then be given MN GreenStar certification, indicating the type and level of certification obtained.
Remodeling Certification
Minnesota GreenStar’s Remodeling program has four types of projects:
Type 1: Renovations that do not add conditioned space
Type 2: Renovations that add conditioned space without changing exterior shell of building
Type 3: Renovations that change exterior shell of building but use only existing foundation
Type 4: Renovations that add a foundation.
New Homes Certification
